Introductions

Connect with your mentor or mentee either in person or online.
by introducing yourself!​

Students have the chance to ask their physician mentors about their career journey, specialty, lifestyle, research, training, and more.

This is also a great opportunity to discuss potential in-person shadowing experiences.

PULSE 2025 Cycle​

  • Applications open December 1st 2024

  • Applications close January 31st 2025

  • Cycle begins February 2025

Application details:

Part of the application is getting to know you and your interests in medicine including specialty interest, match location preference, and other relevant match demographics

  • Long answer question (option to record a 2 minute video response)

    • ​How will the PULSE program help you in reaching your long-term goals? What do you hope to gain personally and professionally from having a PULSE Physician Mentor? (~250 words) (write or video upload)

  • Short answer question (please answer 1 out of these 4 questions in 150 words)

    • ​1. What are the biggest challenges for healthcare professionals in the future, and how can new physicians prepare for these changes?

    • ​2. Discuss when you interacted with someone from a background or culture different from your own. What did you learn, and how will this influence your approach to patient care?

    • 3. What's a common misconception people have about you?

    • 4. What books, films, or other media have impacted your education or personal development? How do these values translate into a well-rounded physician?

  • Optional question

    • ​If you’re comfortable, please tell us about your identity and any systemic barriers you face when accessing medical experiences. At PULSE, our mission is to serve students who have encountered such challenges, and your input will allow us to match you to a physician mentor with the most relevant guidance.
